Wellspring is a big part of the community in Bweyogerere near Kampala in Uganda, as it has a formal school providing education for children aged 3–12 years, along with a community outreach programme. It is a local charity with focus on church and spiritual nourishment and leadership development. It also provides healthcare and support and education.
Bweyogerere is a large village with very few resources. Water is available through wells, with people walking several miles to pick it up. Children start doing this task at about 3 years old. Most people do not have easy access to electricity. There is very little sanitation, with many people using pit latrines. Many people live on less than £1 per day. They have one meal a day and adults often go without food in order that their children can eat.
